We’ve recently had the pleasure of sharing with you our knowledge about quarries:
What they are, what they do, and why it matters!
Today, we’re going to tie our understanding about quarries back to that subject we’re so passionate about here at Santa Barbara Stone Masters – sustainability!
Quarries probably don’t sound especially sustainable to you. The fact is that, as with any resource acquisition, doesn’t come without expense to the earth.
So how can you make sure that the natural stone you are purchasing for your kitchen was mined at a responsible quarry?
Our answer to you:
The Natural Stone Council
The NSC is a thorough organization dedicated to encouraging responsible mining practices by certifying producers who practice sustainable methods.
An excellent contractor or stone retailer will be able to lead you to what you need.
But don’t just rely on them!
The NSC actually has an excellent website where they list types of stone and quarries from which they recommend sourcing your natural stone.
They are also a tremendous resource for those of you committed to adopting sustainable construction practices. If you are a contractor, sourcing your stone from NSC accredited quarries will go a long way towards your own credibility!
We at Santa Barbara Stone Masters know that sustainability is more than an idea.
It is a value which takes time and effort to fully embrace. That’s why we are committed to providing you with as much information as we can to help you make the sustainable choice.
